Artist Philosophy
Jonil’s work centers on organic shapes and spatial forms, inspired heavily by the rhythm and structure of nature and the DNA code. His goal is to integrate these natural principles into design and architecture, believing that nature serves as the ultimate teacher and creative guide.
What inspired you to become an artist?
Jonil: I’ve always been fascinated by the patterns, shapes, and harmony of nature. From a young age, I was drawn to the rhythm and diversity of natural forms—the way things grow and interact with their surroundings. I see design everywhere in nature, and this inspires me deeply. My recent work involves using AI and algorithmic platforms like Rhino Grasshopper to create new architectural and design forms. For me, art is about discovering and expressing the endless design possibilities that already exist in the natural world, especially those reflected in the DNA code.
How does your cultural background influence your work?
Jonil: My cultural background plays a significant role in shaping my artistic vision. Growing up in Albania, I was exposed to the history of art and architecture early on, which became an essential part of my education and technique. Studying in Milan allowed me to dive deeper into classical and contemporary art, giving me a broader creative perspective. My designs are built on this foundation, combining history, tradition, and modern creativity to create diverse architectural forms. The fusion of these influences helps me express my ideas through innovative and meaningful designs.
What's the most valuable lesson you've learned as an artist?
Jonil: The most important lesson I’ve learned is to believe in yourself and your potential. It’s not just about having talent but trusting your abilities and working hard every day. Dreaming big is essential, but so is taking consistent steps toward those dreams. Success doesn’t come easily—it requires perseverance and confidence in your background and skills. As an artist, you have to keep learning, growing, and believing in your potential to create great work.
What advice would you give to aspiring artists?
Jonil: My advice is simple: create every day. Explore different techniques—AI, installation art, architecture, and design. Learning from books and theories is helpful, but nothing compares to learning from nature. Nature is the best teacher, offering endless inspiration through its harmony and shape. Creativity is essential to us as humans, and it’s important to nurture it through constant exploration and practice.
How has technology influenced your recent work?
Jonil: Technology, especially AI, has opened up new possibilities for me as an artist. Using tools like Rhino Grasshopper, I can experiment with forms that are complex and beyond traditional methods. I enjoy exploring new design ideas by merging organic shapes with digital tools. It’s exciting to see how technology can enhance creativity, allowing me to push the boundaries of architecture and design in ways that weren’t possible before.
