Can you describe the concept behind one of your recent projects?
Alina: In Kyiv, the focus is mainly on housing, restoration, and unfortunately, memorial spaces. With one of my works, I wanted to explore an alternate reality—what if Ukraine's historical, political, and economic events had unfolded differently? If there were peace, Kyiv would already have these modern bridges and infrastructure by 2024. This project highlights not only the potential of Kyiv but also emphasizes that the people here—creative, talented, and innovative—deserve to thrive in a comfortable and modern architectural environment.

How do public spaces play a role in your artistic and architectural vision?
Alina: Public spaces are incredibly impactful; they can reach thousands, even millions, with their design. That’s why I focus more on public space design than interiors. Ukrainian public spaces deserve to be refreshed and redesigned, ensuring comfort and well-being for the people. Thoughtfully designed public areas foster connection and a sense of belonging, which is essential for community growth.

What drives your passion for architecture and design?
Alina: Architecture is more than just buildings—it’s about creating environments where people can feel safe, comfortable, and inspired. The harmony found in eco-tech and parametric design fascinates me because they bring nature and technology together. Through design, I aim to explore how spaces can improve lives and connect communities. Every project is an opportunity to blend beauty with functionality and to make a positive impact on people’s lives.

What role does art play in your life, especially during these challenging times?
Alina: Art, for me, is an escape from reality, especially in the context of war. But beyond that, it’s a powerful tool to convey meaningful messages to the world. Art must be seen, it must reach people to fulfill its purpose. That’s why visibility is my greatest inspiration when I create. Art that stays hidden or locked away isn’t truly art. It’s essential for me to share my work and engage with the public to make an impact.

What advice would you give to young artists and architects?
Alina: My advice is to embrace new experiences when you feel drained or uninspired. Travel, meet new people, or change something small in your life—even if it’s just rearranging your space or wearing a new outfit. Creativity thrives on change, and these little shifts can reignite your artistic stamina. Stay curious, always look for new ideas, and never stop challenging yourself.
